Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter Reviews and Swatches

Left to right: Cupcake, Lollipop, Candy Apple, Raspberry Pie
After seeing so many promising reviews on these babies, I decided to give them a go myself! These of course are the new Revlon Colorburst Lip Butters. Revlon's claims for this product are:
  • Hydrating mango, shea and coconut butter formula boosts lip moisture by 156%
  • Pampering gel formula provides super charged hydration and glides on lips buttery smooth
While I definitely agree that they glided on the lips, I can't say they added 156% more moisture. Don't get me wrong, my lips didn't feel dry for any time that I wore the product, but it didn't feel any different from when I wear my Carmex. They seemed to me a hybrid between lip gloss and lipstick which I really liked.

****QUICK WARNING****. The natural light swatches kinda sucked. For some reason, the flash swatches are more true to life (take my word for this). Please note this if you like a certain swatch more than another of the same shade.

Now on to the swatches, shall we?

Natural Light: Cupcake, Lollipop, Candy Apple, Raspberry Pie
With Flash: Cupcake, Lollipop, Candy Apple, Raspberry Pie

First up we have Cupcake! This is a light pink that was more sheer than the other colors. I was worried how frosty this shade was going to be, but I really ended up enjoying how it turned out! It didn't settle into the lip lines as most light shades do on me (though that might be thanks to the texture of the product).

Next is Lollipop. This color reminded me of a lighter version of the Wet N Wild lipstick Fuchsia with Blue Pearl. It is very bright, quite opaque, and perfect for spring/summer!

Then we have Candy Apple. From what i've been seeing lately, tangerine/coral is a big color this season. This lip butter translates that well on the lips in a manner that is not too in your face. For people who want to try a orangey-red lipstick but don't want to commit to a full out lipstick look, I definitely recommend this shade.

Finally, we have Raspberry Pie! In swatches it looks very similar to Lollipop. However, it differs because it doesn't have the same blue tones or shimmer and is a tad darker. I found that this lasted a couple hours on my lips. When it faded it actually created a pretty looking ombre stain. It is nice to know that if I wear this out and forget to keep checking/reapplying, the look that is left over still looks nice.

Overall: I WANT MORE! I really loved all of these and I can see myself wearing them all year round. I'm excited to try some of the more neutral shades as well as a few other colorful ones. They don't last as long as lipstick, but I don't mind reapplying every few hours or so. They feel great on the lips and make wearing color easy!

Thanks for reading and have a great day xx
Tessa

  1. I really enjoy these lip butters. I already have a few including Peach Parfait, Strawberry Shortcake and Sweet Tart, but it looks like I may need to get a few more based on your swatches. Raspberry Pie looks lovely.
