Stormy Eye

I don't like the rain. It's too cold where I live and unpleasant. I'd like to be in one of those places that has warm, gentle rains. Alas, I don't live there, so I do silly things like do my makeup inspired by the weather.

This was actually done weeks ago, but as you may have read in my last post; it's been a while.

On with the look! More pictures and products after the jump!

It's been a long time...

...since I left you. (Aaliyah, anyone?)

Ah, yes. I knew this would happen eventually. I forget to post things so a long time. I am still alive however! And I have oodles of new posts/looks/whatnot to do.

EDIT: Actually just looked at the date of my last post. Great Procrastination Batman! It's literally been months...

I'm just lazy.
And busy!

But today I managed to shoot a tutorial which is uploading to Youtube as we speak.

It's been so long I forget how I sign off on these posts, so....

Thanks for reading,
Tessa

Eye of the Night! (EOTN)

I don't think I could wear something like this out on your average sunny day (yet...) but I really like it as a night/going out look! Which, you know, is what I totally did last night. I didn't stay in my room and eat snacks all night or anything.

My inspiration was the Maybelline palette. I don't use it often because the colors are so vibrant, but I needed a bright green for this look and it certainly did the job! The whole colored brows thing is new, too. Maybe it is my subconscious telling me I should dye my hair red like i've always wanted! Who knows?

For this look I utilized the following products:

  • Urban Decay Eye Primer in Original
  • Maybelline Eye Studio Color Explosion in Forest Fury
  • Sugarpill Pressed Eyeshadow in Buttercupcake
  • Lancome Artliner in Noir
  • NYX Single Eyeshadow in Luxor and Burgundy Pearl
  • NYX Retractable Eye Pencil in Peacock
  • Benefit BadGal Mascara in Plum
  • NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk
Thanks for reading and have a great day! xx

Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter Reviews and Swatches

Left to right: Cupcake, Lollipop, Candy Apple, Raspberry Pie
After seeing so many promising reviews on these babies, I decided to give them a go myself! These of course are the new Revlon Colorburst Lip Butters. Revlon's claims for this product are:
  • Hydrating mango, shea and coconut butter formula boosts lip moisture by 156%
  • Pampering gel formula provides super charged hydration and glides on lips buttery smooth
While I definitely agree that they glided on the lips, I can't say they added 156% more moisture. Don't get me wrong, my lips didn't feel dry for any time that I wore the product, but it didn't feel any different from when I wear my Carmex. They seemed to me a hybrid between lip gloss and lipstick which I really liked.

****QUICK WARNING****. The natural light swatches kinda sucked. For some reason, the flash swatches are more true to life (take my word for this). Please note this if you like a certain swatch more than another of the same shade.

Now on to the swatches, shall we?

Tropical / Rainbow Tutorial

Finally! A tutorial that is actually acceptable to see by the public. I recently bought a light reflector for any future portrait photography and found that it creates a perfect light balance for filming, too!

Being that this is my first actual tutorial I would like to know what you think of it! Do you like/dislike the style of it? Do you prefer talking in person or voice over? Music/no music? Please comment below about with honest (but still constructive) opinions!

This look is done with my Burning Heart palette by Sugarpill and ughhh am I in love. The shadows are so pigmented and show up beautifully in pictures and in person. Especially well in pictures, in fact, because they are matte.

February MyGlam Bag

Ah, MyGlam. Just another thing to add to my list of unnecessary purchases this month.
For those that don't know, MyGlam is a monthly cosmetics/skincare bag created by YouTube beauty guru Michelle Phan and endorsed by several others. It's essentially like Birchbox only without the customization. The company has gotten many mixed reviews over product selection and general shipping issues, but even with these...warnings, I decided to give it a go!

I actually ordered the bag in late January, but I think you have to order before the 10th of the current month in order to get that month's bag. A little confusing, but long story short I had to wait a while to get mine.

Lipstick-a-palooza PART ONE

So one of my main New Years resolutions is to wear more colors in my makeup, specifically lipstick. Now, I have a lot of lipstick, but hardly ever wear it! This is a shame since I have a lot of great, bright colors. To make myself fall in love with the idea again, I decided a swatch fest was in order.

Oh man. My lips are tired from this! On the bright side, at least all the constant makeup removal exfoliated them.

The brands in Part 1 include: NYX Matte, NYC, NYX Black Label, and Covergirl
Part 2 will have: Wet N Wild, Clinique, and Maybelline

As Mario would say, HERE WE GOOO~! (...this is my blog alright?! I can make nerdy references if I so please!)
